I really enjoyed Christian’s artwork for many reasons. Let me start off by stating that I live in San Francisco and I don’t have a car. But if I did have a car I would want this one. I could skip the traffic on both the Golden Gate and the Bay Bridge by heading straight for the water. To top it all off, its very eco-friendly which is a must here in the bay area. I do what I can to help out with my carbon footprint, by biking to work for example. Part of what drives me is doing my part to help, by recycling, biking, etc. I think if we all had Christian’s BMW, we would that much closer to attaining a greener planet.

It’s a question that we should each ask ourselves every day. Is it a drive for knowledge or power? A need for adventure? Maybe it’s something simple? Or even something secret?

Whatever drives you, we, as people, share in a common drive not just to survive, but to exist. This graffiti by Marvin Mariano defines the human need to exist and embodies the Pure BMW experience. Just as Marvin is driven by a need to create, BMW is driven by a need to innovate.

The BMW 1 Series illustrates a point where the real world intersects imagination. It’s a point where the labors of science and engineering meet the mysteries of the open road. In this space, one can be driven by anything, the limitations are beholden only to the powers of one’s creativity.

BMW automobiles are technically sophisticated, sleek machines. Which is why I liked this entry that juxtaposed roots and nature with the vehicle:

I like how it shows how any driving experience is ultimately tied to the environment in which it takes place. The tree brings the vehicle to life, giving it an organic structure. It feels like a living, breathing organism now. It makes the vehicle more friendly, natural, and accessible. I also like the minimalistic use of color, which keeps the design of the entry artistic, elegant, and simple.

Its a strange thing to be asked to express what drives me… and then pick an image someone else created to show what drives them… to show what drives me… anyhow, cyclical nature of this aside… Nadia Tan’s Doodlicious Art Car image grabbed me today, and certainly feels very pen on paper when day dreaming in class…
